...MY BIKE IN '82

Honda SS 50, Holland, 1982
In the Netherlands the 4-stroke Honda SS-50 was provided from 1973 up to 1978. According to the Dutch legislation pedals were obliged. In practice these pedals were 9 out of 10 removed. Some other typical Dutch obligatory characteristics: 30 centimetres long blank enamelled piece mudguard, a bicycle bell and a mechanically limited top speed of 40 kilometres per hour: also in practice always removed. I had this bike provided with a 70cc cilinder. Althought the SS 50 was succeeded in 1979 by the Honda MB 50, still today they move around.

BIKE IN A BOX

Matchbox Sidecar, Hondarora and Honda Trailer, 60s & 70s
Matchbox toys, started in 1953, were so named because the original models were packed in boxes similar in size and style to boxes of matches. The first miniature was designed for the owners daughter: her school only allowed children to bring toys that could fit inside a matchbox.

GREASY HANDS

Honda 50, 65, 70 & 90 Workshop Manuals, Haynes, UK ,1962/64
Haynes manuals are based upon taking apart and then putting together a vehicle, and are written by different authors. Each section has step-by-step instructions with 'exploded view' drawings and photographs of an actual strip down or rebuild. A car or motorcycle is bought at the beginning of the project and sold at the end. It is usually retained for a couple of months to ensure it is functioning correctly.
