NEW YORK #2

Miss MotorParade dreaming of a free ride...

The 'lack of big cycles' was made up by the number of nice bicycles and mopeds.

NEW YORK #1

I stayed in the Lower East in New York for eight days, and I was amazed by the lack of bikes in the Big Apple! I only noticed some cycles from time to time, while I was wandering the streets of this great city.

A few times I spotted a nicely modified Honda CB in the busy streets of Lower East, mainly because the awesome noise the bike produced...
... and some days later I met the guy, fixing his Honda at the side of Eldridge Street. Mike is now speeding around with a few MotorParade pins on his jacket.

DUTCH LIBERATION DAY

Foto and postcard, Holland, 1945
The picture above of a Canadien Seaforth was taken here, on the Amstellaan in Amsterdam (The name of this street was after the war changed in Vrijheidslaan, Freedomlane). The picture was used for the illustration of this 1945 Dutch liberation-memorial postcard.

ARRESTED

Holland, may 1945
This photo was taken here on the Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam, at the first days of the liberation of occupied Holland. A German soldier on his motorcycle is being arrested by the Dutch BS, an army made of Dutch resistance groups.

DUTCH WW II MEMORIAL DAY

'Neemt dienst bij de Motor WA', ('Join the WA motorbrigade'), Holland, 1944
Propaganda poster to join the WA, a division of the fascist National Socialist Movement in occupied Holland. The WA was a group of fascist thugs, working together with the German occupier, causing riots and beating people up.
Today, may 4, the Dutch victims of World War II are being remembered by 2 minutes of silence at 8.00 pm.
