DUTCH TOURIST TROPHY

Dutch TT, Holland, 1964

The Dutch TT (Tourist Trophy) is traditionally held on the last Saturday of June at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands, as part of the MotoGP World Championship. The first race started in 1925 on brick-paved country roads between a few villages. In 1955 a proper circuit was built nearby, which has a capacity of 140,000 spectators. The circuit where the race is held is known as 'The Cathedral' of motorcycling. More photo's from '64 here

In the Netherlands, Puch mopeds played a big role in the youth culture and music scene in the 60s, begin 70s. Expecially the Puch Skytrack was very popular among the boys, who equipped this moped with extreme high handlebars.

IN THE BIKE SHED

Puch produced the Maxi, that was popular in Holland from the late 70s to early 80s. Although it was a typical girls moped, it was a relative 'tough' bike also used by boys, who equipped the Maxi with a 60 or even a 70 cc cilinder.
